Description
The Royal Australian Mint most popular series continues with the release of the Allied rock-wallaby. It is commonly seen in north-east Queensland, on nearby Palm Island and Magnetic Island. It skilfully hops around rocky cliffs feeding on grasses, fruits, seeds and flowers. During Autumn, the wallaby sheds its dark brown fur revealing a lighter coat that provides camouflage against the grasses that sprout around its rocky home.
The allied rock-wallaby was originally thought to be more widespread, but since genetic testing was introduced, five more distinct wallaby species were discovered, and are only distinguishable by the size and shape of their chromosomes.
This coin is finished with proof gold and is presented in a presentation case and comes with a numbered certificate.
