Dame Nellie Melba was an opera soprano who became one of the most famous divas of her age. She was Australia’s first international singing star and was among the first international artists to perform in radio broadcasts.
Affixed to the envelope is a 60c stamp featuring Rupert Bunny’s grand 1902 portrait of DameNellie Melba. The stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue and features Australia Post’sSeal of Authenticity and official number.
