2012 Young Collectors Animal Athletes - Kangaroo

The first release in the exciting new Young Collectors Animal Athletes series features the boxing kangaroo. Docile and friendly for the most part, Australian kangaroos sometimes brawl with one another. The fights include punching, scratching, and other bad-tempered behaviour.
A male kangaroo is called a ‘buck’,’ boomer’ or ‘jack’, and usually it’s one of these large males who starts a fight. He wants the others to know who is boss so he will square-up to another male who might be thinking the same thing.

The coin’s reverse portrays two ‘boxing’ kangaroos set against a coloured background of the Australian outback.

A great gift for any budding young collector, the coin is housed in an illustrated presentation card. The card folds out with fantastic illustrations and information about the kangaroo and its behaviour.
