Description
The extraordinary bond that a mother giraffe shares with her calf is unique among adult giraffes. To guard her young, a mother giraffe will gather with other females and their calves in nursery herds.
By keeping the infant animals together and moving across open spaces, the adult females can more easily observe the group and detect approaching predators. If a calf is at risk of danger, its mother will stand over her offspring without hesitation and harshly kick any animal that gets too close.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.
Accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, the coin is housed in a display case and box-shipper portraying more stunning imagery.
