Description
Honouring past and present Australian Service Nurses who have made military history behind and beyond the battlefields, the Royal Australian Mint has produced a commemorative themed 20c coin.
The 20cent coin design perfectly captures a nurse in her personal effort to bring comfort and assistance to a wounded “Aussie Digger”, whilst upholding the highest traditions of the nursing fraternity.
Australian Service Nurses first served with Australian troops in the Colonial Military Forces in South Africa, during the Boer war and have since seen active service in both world wars, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Rwanda, Bougainville, East Timor and more recently in the Gulf and Afghanistan conflicts.
