Description

A ginger and white cat adorns this colourful coin, recognising the 150th anniversary of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) in Australia. From playful kittens to fussy felines, cats have been working their way into our homes and hearts for thousands of years..

The Royal Australian Mint has partnered with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the organisation’s work in Australia. Founded in London in 1824 and then in Australia in 1871, the RSPCA works to protect all animals from cruelty.

An independent charity, the organisation relies on community support to run animal rehoming shelters, investigate complaints of animal cruelty and educate the community about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.

The RSPCA promotes the welfare of all animals. In fact, its moniker is “for all creatures, great and small”.

This cat coin is unique, with striking colours and will appeal to feline fans, coin collectors and animal devotees.

A dollar from the sale of every cat coin will go to the RSPCA to help them continue their important work.

Each cat coin includes the following features:

  • Unique, colourful design
  • Limited mintage of 22,500
  • Uncirculated finish
