Description
To commemorate the tenth anniversary of the first coloured $2 coin released into circulation, The Royal Australian Minthas released this stunning 2022 $2 C Mintmark Coloured Uncirculated Coin featuring the iconic original red poppy design.
A Mint first when it was released in 2012, the red poppy coin heralded an amazing decade of coloured $2 coin releases and collecting.
When the Royal Australian Mint released the Remembrance Day coloured $2 coin in November 2012 it signified a number of firsts for
the organisation – the first coloured coin released into circulation, the first use of micro text on a circulating coin, and the first time that the $2 coin reverse design had been changed since its introduction in 1988. This was an important milestone for the Mint and its ongoing development as a truly modern world-leading centre of numismatic excellence.
In the intervening decade, the Mint has continued to release coloured $2 coins into circulation to commemorate major anniversaries
and organisations.
With each release, the Australian public has embraced these small colourful ‘Australian stories’ and engaged in an ongoing national passion for coin collecting.
This stunning 2022 $2 C Mintmark Coloured Uncirculated Coin commemorates where this ever-evolving national engagement all began, with the iconic red poppy design.
- The reverse features the original red poppy design
