In 2024 the 50th Anniversary of the National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) is celebrated. NAIDOC is a committee formed entirely of Indigenous people.
The Royal Australian Mint celebrates this historic milestone and the rich cultural heritage and achievements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with this 2024 coloured frosted uncirculated coin designed by Dagoman, Wardaman, and Gurindji artist Cortney Glass.
NAIDOC Week, observed annually from the first Sunday in July, celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture, and achievements.
NAIDOC week provides an opportunity for all Australians to engage with and celebrate the world's oldest continuous living cultures.
