The Royal Australian Mint released Australia's first ever Hologram coin and what is believed to be the World's first double image Hologram coin. This coin has been produced to end an important year for all Australian's, Australia's Centenary of Federation Year 2001.
On the coin features Rotunda on one of its reflections and a map of Australia, with the states and territories outlined and featured in various colours, on the other.
The $5 coin has been produced with the assistance of Australia's science research facility CSIRO, that has come up with a method of producing the Holograms, and has been used for the first time on this coin.
This coin has a mintage of only 10,000 being released World Wide.
This coin is housed in a special effects outer box that features a metallic appearance created by the printing onto a reflective coated coupled with a silver embossed foil of the map of Australia.
The coin has been produced from 99.9% fine silver and comes with a numbered certificate.
