Description
The Royal Australian Mint commissioned Stuart Devlin, Geelong born Jeweller and Goldsmith to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, to prepare the reverse design of this coin.
The obverse features the standard effigy of the Queen, during her first visit to Australia as the Duchess of York on the 9th of May 1927.
The design is based on a photograph of the Duchess of York as she was then attending the Adelaide Cup.
The Obverse design differs from current proof coins in that the Queen's tiara and earring have been polished finished.
