The Masterpieces in Silver series was produced from 1988 to 2011 by the Royal Australian Mint. This long running coin series was dedicated to Australian themes and events that have shaped Australia as a nation - Australian Art of the 20th Century

The Masterpieces in Silver series features reproductions of work from four of Australias most outstanding artists:
- Sidney Nolan: Burke and Wills expedition (1948)
- Jeffery Smart: Keswick Sidling (1945)
- Brett Whiteley: Self portrait in the studio (1976)
- Russell Drysdale: The Drovers wife (1945)
Produced in 99.9% silver, each $5 coin has been masterfully created to represent the artwork
The actual mintage of set was 6,018 and comes with a numbered certificate. A special feature is a miniature easel to display a coin
