Description
On 6 June 1859 Queen Victoria signed Letters Patent creating the new Colony of Queensland which was officially proclaimed on 10 December 1859.
The coin design features several maps of Australia depicting the historical (pre- 1911) state and territory boundaries as they evolved over time. The focus of the design is on the modern-day boundaries of Queensland. The state is highlighted and is imprinted with the state’s name.
