Description
In 2011, Remembrance Day will fall on the significant date of 11.11.11.
To commemorate this day and in the memory of all fallen soldiers the Royal Australian Mint has produced a coin where the principle design element is a bright red poppy.
The Red poppy was a sign of hope and renewal and was among the first plants to spring up in the devastated battlefields of northern France and Belgium.
The coin has been slightly scalloped to mimic the delicate ripples of the flower's edge, whilst the centre is printed in the vibrant red reminiscent of this iconic flower
The coin is presented in a blister and then housed in a holder specially designed for presentation.
