Description
It’s Canberra’s 100th birthday this year, and the Royal Australian Mint has created a beautiful coin to help celebrate this momentous milestone.
When Walter Burley Griffin’s ambitious and ultimately triumphant design for Australia’s federal capital began with the laying of the foundation stones in 1913, even the most optimistic champion of the city’s development could not have foreseen the success of today’s Canberra. This richly finished proof coin is struck in fine silver, and depicts the Canberra skyline presented against an artistic impression of that same site one hundred years ago.
