Description

Each year, on 25 April, Anzac Day commemorations are held across Australia. These services and vigils are held to pay respects to Australians who have lost their lives or served in all military and peacekeeping operations in which Australia has been involved. This cover pays tribute to the almost 60,000 Australians who served in the Vietnam War between 1962 and 1973, as well as after the fall of Saigon in 1975. 521 Australians were killed and more than 3,000 were wounded in Australia’s longest conflict of the 20th century.

The reverse of the coin portrays a stylised torch and an external flame, a symbol of gratitude and remembrance. It is encircled by images of poppies, the commemorative flower of remembrance. As well as the inscriptions ‘25 APRIL’ and ‘LEST WE FORGET
