Description
The memory of the thousands who lost their lives at Gallipoli has never been lost on the peoples of Australia and New Zealand who share 25 April - ANZAC Day - as one of their most important national occasions.
The design theme portrayed on both silver coins, each struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, is 'camaraderie'.
Both coins depict a group of Australian and New Zealand soldiers wearing either Australian slouch hats or New Zealand ‘lemon squeezers’.
A coloured image of the national flag of Australia appears in the design of the Australian coin, which also features the border inscription AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND ARMY CORPS 1915 - 2005.
A coloured image of the national flag of New Zealand appears in the design of the New Zealand coin, which also features the border inscription CAMARADERIE 1915 - 2005 and the words WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
The two silver coins are housed in a replica of Princess Mary’s Christmas Gift Box, presented to Australian and New Zealand forces in 1915.
This set has a limited worldwide mintage of only 15,000
