Description
The first coin in the new Great Warriors series struck by the Perth Mint is the 2010 Roman Legionary 1oz Silver Proof Dollar Coin. Depicted on the coins reverse is the Roman Legionary in full color. Highly disciplined infantry soldiers, professional legionaries formed the backbone of the Roman army a formidable fighting force that conquered and controlled Rome's vast empire. The depiction of the Soldier in full battle attire, he is dressed in galea, a metal helmet with cheek guards, and a cuirass, body armour comprising overlapping iron plates. The Perth Mint has released this 1oz silver proof under the Government of the Tuvalu and has a limited mintage of only 5,000 coins.
