Released by Australia Post to celebrate the canonisation of Mary MacKillop – Australia’s first saint, canonised on the 17th October 2010. The rectangle-shaped coin is produced from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse portrays a 60c commemorative stamp issued by Australia Post. The design features a coloured portrait of Saint Mary MacKillop and includes a representation of St Mary MacKillop’s signature, the dates 1842-1909 and the word AUSTRALIA.
The coin is accompanied by the actual 60c Australia Post stamp, like the coin, it is protected in a capsule to keep it in mint condition forever. Each set comes in a presentation box incorporating a magnetised plinth that can be raised for better display. Each Stamp–Coin set is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
