Description
The Perth Mint and Australia Post mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy with a stunning commemorative Stamp and Coin Cover.
On 1 March 1901, exactly two months after the Federation of Australia, responsibility for the former colonies naval forces passed to the new Commonwealth Government, setting in train developments resulting in the emergence of the Royal Australian Navy in 1911.
Affixed to the envelope are two official Australia Post stamps. The first 60c stamp features HMAS Australia, which was the Royal Australian Navy's first flagship. The second 60c stamp features HMAS Sydney V, representing the strength of the Australian Navy's current fleet.
The stamps are postmarked for the first day of issue and feature Australia Post's Seal of Authenticity and official number.
