Description
The 4th release in the Wildlife in Need series is the Black Rhinoceros.
The Black Rhinoceros is characterised by its sizeable frame and distinctive horns. The species is thought to have poor sight, but a good sense of smell and hearing. Generally, this vegetarian animal will avoid human interaction but will charge if cornered or threatened. The females protect their young for many years, and rhino calves usually stay with their mothers until a sibling is born. It is believed, this magnificent species lives to 40 or 50 years of age.
The coin’s reverse features an adult Black Rhinoceros and calf in colour, against at African savannah backdrop.
Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu
No more than 5,000 of these coins will be released.
