Description
The 2013 Sydney ANDA Coin Show Special has been exclusively released by The Perth Mint and features a depiction of the spectacular World Heritage Site, Willandra Lakes.
The Willandra Lakes Region covers 2,400 square kilometres of semi-arid landscape in the Murray Basin in south-western New South Wales. The region encompasses dried saline lakebeds, saltbushes, grasses, sand dunes and a system of ancient lakes formed more than two million years ago.
Recognised for its geological significance and its record of Aboriginal settlement over a period of 50,000 years, the Willandra Lakes Region was added to the World Heritage List in 1981.
The coin’s reverse represents the Willandra Lakes Region’s rugged landscape with a majestic Wedge-tailed Eagle perched on a tree branch.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 2,500 of these World Heritage Site – Willandra Lakes Region 2013 1oz Silver Proof Coins.
The coin is housed in a Perth Mint display case and illustrated shipper with the Wedge-tail Eagle design alongside the ANDA logo.
The coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
