Description
The centenary stamp is based on the original red 1d King George V stamp design that was first issued in a limited edition intaglio version on 9 December 1913. The letterpress red 1d version was issued on 17 July 1914 and replaced the 1d Kangaroo and Map stamp.
The stamp-coin set features the 2014 red 70c stamp. In addition, the set includes a limited edition stamp-shaped coin struck from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality by The Perth Mint, featuring a pad-printed image of the stamp.
The coin’s reverse depicts the original stamp replica, which featured an effigy of King George V with kangaroo and emu in an oval shape with a crown. The red coloured background and the words AUSTRALIA, POSTAGE and ONE PENNY are also featured.
This coin and stamp set is housed in a stunning wooden display case with illustrated shipper and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
