The Perth Mint and Australia Post has released this stamp and coin cover celebrating 100 Years of Disney featuring Mickey Mouse.
For decades, Mickey Mouse has been the most recognised and popular of the world’s cartoon characters. The loveable and indomitable Mickey made his debut in the 1928 short Steamboat Willie. Always the underdog, Mickey overcomes larger-than-life adversity through quick wit and a can-do spirit, despite being small and vulnerable. As its most famous character Mickey serves as the mascot of The Walt Disney character. Mickey serves as the mascot of The Walt Disney Company and in 1978 became the first cartoon character to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Issued as Tuvalu legal tender, the uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a beautifully designed card with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs
The coin portrays a coloured image of Mickey Mouse amid representations of celestial bodies. As well as the official ‘DISNEY 100’ logo.
Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post $1.20 stamp. The stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity.
