Description
Rubik’s® Cube is a well-recognised global toy that is fun for the whole family. Each face of a Rubik’s® Cube comprises nine coloured squares. At the start of the puzzle, the squares are arranged so that each face is uniformly coloured - yellow, white, blue, green, orange, or red. An internal pivot mechanism, which allows each face to be twisted or turned independently, is used to scramble the 54 coloured squares, which must then be returned to their original configuration to complete the puzzle.
Inspiring a global craze with puzzlers everywhere keen to have a go, those who took it most seriously studied techniques and strategies to help solve the Rubik’s ® Cube as quickly as possible. As of July 2023, the world record of solving a 3x3 cube had been set to stand at a remarkable 3.13 seconds.
The Perth Mint has released this unique Rubik’s™ Cube collectable coin. Encased in the coin’s centre is a rotating 24-carat gold-plated representative model of a Rubik’s® Cube.
