The Perth Mint is happy to present this lucky keepsake celebrating the Year of the Snake. Crafted from 1/2oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin includes the Chinese character “福” (Fu) meaning prosperity and floral motifs.
Chinese Lunar New Year, also called the Spring Festival in China, is the most important of the traditional festivals celebrated by Asian cultures throughout the world. It is a time for families to reunite and honour deities and ancestors.
The Chinese character “福” (Fu)” holds profound significance in Chinese culture throughout the world. “FU” conveys happiness, blessings and good fortune, making it a cherished symbol with enduring relevance. The pictorial “FU” symbol continues to be a prominent motif in contemporary art and design, specially during the Lunar New Year.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the 2025 Year of the Snake “Fu” – Prosperity 1/2oz Silver Coloured Coin in Card out of a total mintage of 200,000.
The coin’s reverse portrays a coloured representation of the Chinese character “福” (Fu) adorned with vibrant red, orange and yellow floral motifs. Surrounding the snake symbol are intricate geometric floral patterns.
Included in the design is the inscription ‘YEAR OF THE SNAKE 2025’,
