Description
The release of this set commemorating the Centenary of the creation of the first Australian coinage, this set honours the original 1910 Coat of Arms Florin, as well as the hype that came so close to the selection as part of Australia's first national currency - the Map of Australia 1909 Florin. The design for the florin was approved by Treasury, with the dies prepared by the Royal Mint, it seemd the Map of Australia would be the design of the Florin, but when the 1910 Florin was reveiled it had the Australian Coat of Arms as the design, which it was requested by the then Governor General. This set contains two 1oz silver proof coins which has been released under the Government of the Cook Islands. It also contains two replica florins dated 1909 and 1910.This set has a very tiny mintage of only 1,000 sets being released.
